Today I came back from about 11 days off to a hydroponic system covered in green! Over the break the system fed nutrient water and sunlight to the once baby plants to help the m grow taller and brighter. I will leave the basil in as long as possible so that they can grow bigger and so that I can harvest the stalks and give them to the dining hall. Leaving the basil in also gives me more time to plant the milkweed seeds! Today I planted 32 of the approximately 400 milkweed seeds I gathered all the way back in late-August. I planted two seeds in each rockwool cube, placed vermiculite on top, and set them in the same spot that I set the basil in near a window but not too close so they don't freeze. My next step (aside from keeping track of both plants progression) is figuring out the timing for lights and water for milkweed and what solution concentration would be most beneficial for the plant.
