Solutions Solutions

Isabel Simon

Today I finally figured out the correct measurements to create an ideal mineral solution that will eventually run through my hydroponic system (with water of course). It is currently 440mL of both Mineral A (Nitrogen, Calcium and Iron) and Mineral B (Phosphate, Soluble Potash, Magnesium, Sulfur, Boron, Copper, Manganese, Molybdenum, and Zinc) combined with about 250mL of a Base lifter to increase the pH. This is where I have to do a bit more research because, so far, the solutions I have created have had an incredibly low pH, which should not be the case. I could potentially continue to use a large amount of this pH adjuster, but I think this issue might be one of two things; I'm either missing a step or the chemicals could be expired. Although I have yet to answer this question, the solution is defiantly potent enough to use for a trial run of the growing process. As you can see, the solution now has a pH of 5.5 which is in the ideal range of pH values for this nutrient solution (5.0 to 7.0). My next step, aside from figuring out the pH issue, is learning how the water runs through the hydroponic system and making sure the pump that runs the water through the system works.
