This week I built a hydroponic system to grow my milkweed in. A hydroponic system is where plants are grown in nutrient water (filled up in the green base at the bottom of the system) instead of soil. The process starts by planting seeds in rockwool starter cubes, letting them sprout a bit, then adding vermiculite to those same cubes and putting them in the black plastic slots on the side of the system. To work any kinks out of the process, while I wait for the milkweed seeds to finish the Cold Stratification process, I will plant Gourmet lettuce to gain a better understanding of how the system works.
